Way to go Seung-Hui Cho!

You're now in the hall of fame for famous killers of the 3rd week of april.
But it was you who scored the most points with thirty three kills!
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold would be proud. We were all due for some sort of a crazy event like that. It seems like every half decade or so, something gnarly happens the 3rd week of april...columbine, waco, oklahoma city,
well anyways congratulations Cho! Hopefully your soul is spared and you don't meet anyone you killed in the afterlife because they will probably fuck you up!

TONIGHT IN PUNK ROCK ETHICS

I'm also thinking about hitting this up tonight at the Galaxy and passing out flyers for the event posted below.
D.I. and Agent Orange are some of the pioneers of the local punk rock scene in Orange County. These guys are probably in their 40s now and they are still charging strong. One of my favorite tracks that truly expresses the famous edgy ambiguously white pride 714 surf punk sound of OC would have to be Hang Ten in East Berlin
Everything Turn's Grey is another sick old school surf punk anthem that gained Agent Orange some notoriety and airplay on KROQ back in the day.
Spring comes early this year
The weather has been so epic here lately that I can't believe its technically still winter. We get longer days as of this saturday the 11th because the government wants people to conserve energy. I'm hoping the surf can "spring forward" with a little bit of Wedge action or something! It's been looking like Lake Laguna the last few days, but I foresee SW'rs on the horizon finalmente!
In other news, Come out and support the ADCSS tomorrow night at the Coachhouse
18 and over. Entry is $20, but you get 2 drink tickets so it kinda works out.
I will be spinning all kinds of stuff all night, with a special set late night.
I def. will be dropping this track by Collie Budz feat. Busta Rhymes that I stole off of Palms Out Sounds, one of the best blogs around.

March means SWers....
Yea,
I haven't posted much up lately.
I got into one of those slumps.
Some call it writer's block, some call it being lazy, whatevs....
But I must say that SOULOC is here to stay!
Anyways, I found this track about a week ago, browsing for tracks on my mac (but I'm typing on a PC right now).
This song screams gritty electronic punk with a dirty synth bassline and classic crooked tooth British vox. Its gives that rallied up punk rock ready-to-circle-pit feeling in the beginning and then kinda turns into more of a pop punk chorus. The song has a slight hint nu-ravish klaxon rock type sound. I came to that conclusion after hearing a couple of their other songs on myspace. Who knows, maybe these guys will take over where the Arctic Monkeys left their synthesizers.
Hear their songs on myspace HERE
Download We Smoke Fags-Eastenders HERE

This video premier should be sick.
I remember this kid's first video and he played some of the gnarliest Screamo-Hardcore I've ever heard. He even used the famed keyboarding hardcore band from San Diego THE LOCUST
I remember seeing these guys play when I was like 15. They were so gnarbar. Fuckin screamo, with keyboards! They just go so psycho live! I especially like the track entitled "Gluing carpet to yo..."
All songs are downloadable at their MYSPACE.

The Game vs. Turbulence- Notorious Blood
I mashed these tracks up a few months ago on Serato and recorded it. But now since I purchased Live 6 I'm thinking of making a better copy that is more mixable in a club format. The track that's laid under "One Blood" is the Socios Remix of the Scallawah Riddim, made famous by Turbulence via THC Muzik. Habte Selassie was kind enough to give the 10th St. Bros and myself permission to use the original in George Bryan's segment for their latest skim video release Best Trip Ever.
Big ups to Rap A Lot Records and Mike Dean for pulling off the sick sample of Junior Reid. The Game was able to use the track with the help of Dre and 50 acting as middlemen, charging 25%.
The Game vs. Turbulence-Notorious Blood

10 surefire ways to spot a kook at your local break

SouLoc sat down with Victoria Skimboards/Freak Deck team rider Hunter Poller to discuss how you can spot a kook at your local beach. Although some of these pointers may only pertain to Laguna, many are universal at any beach.
1.Puka shell necklace....chances are the guy is not very common in these parts.
2.Boardshorts over their fullsuit...WTF!?!
3.Rolls up to beach with or seen hanging out and stone cold chillin' with a rash guard on.....it's now "cool" for MMA fighters to train in these but hang out and relax in one? C'mon!
4.Tells you 10th street sider is firing in the middle of January...Where dude? Inside the cave?
5. Rolls to the beach with a skim, boogie, 8 other dudes and no chicks....at least bring some girls for us to look at if you're going to be a traitor (ok, I admit once in a blue moon I will sponge, but thats when I borrow a board from someone on the beach because its just one of those fun days)
6. Walks up to you and asks if thats a "surfboard" or a "wakeboard." You politely reply "It's a skimboard" and they say "SkiNboard eh?, never heard of that before."
7. Graffiti's up your beach area or stairs with the wackest style...just walk down West St. stairs and you'll see what we mean.
8. Leaves trash on the beach...you're obviously a kook if you do this
9. Does not have the slightest clue as to what skim etiquette is...
10. Cuts off and collides with legends like Tex or Hende and has no idea who they are....
next time...top misconceptions assumed by WC riders about EC riders with Joey V.

You talkin' to me?
I've always been fascinated with our beloved Italian American actors; Pesci, Liotta, Pacino, and in this case De Niro. What a killer short monologue.
He's so calm and collective, and then a gun slides out right in your face!

Bill "Beaker" Bryan on 2007
SouLoc had a chance to chat with Bill Bryan this week about what's going to happen in 2007.

SouLoc: So you just had a birthday this week, how old are you know?
BB: 17
SouLoc: yeah, what, 17 times 2?
BB: Shut up
SouLoc: What's in store for the 10th st. Bros in 2007?
BB: Lot's of water footage at exotic locations, we're looking at Mavericks,Cortez Banks,Mars, and Uranus, more tow-ins, bigger waves, and more technical maneuvers.
Look out for hyphy bangaz and something a little more abstract.
SouLoc: Any chance of some DVD reissues of some old 10th St. Bros films a la "The Bomb," "Aftermath," or even "Soulag?"
BB: Maybe if the waves suck in '07 I'll have time to get around to it.
SouLoc: Any riders you think we should look out for in 2007?
BB: Yea, uh, Dom-P and Domke, Stiso and Morgan Ohlund, and George and Jack Bryan.
SouLoc: Right on, any cool music tracks you're diggin right now and feelin' for '07?
BB: Yea, Beardo- "Girls,Girls, Girls, and Pills, Pills, Pills" Dirt Nasty "Droppin' Names" and Mickey Avalon- "Waiting to Die"
SouLoc: Thanx Bill, we'll see ya in the water.

Daily Disco
Before Underdog Records in Laguna Beach closed down right before Halloween '06 I managed to score a few sick vinyl gems. Some punk, some surf, some electro, and even some hip hop. I even grabbed the Misfits- She/ Cool Cough 7" just because those are like the only 2 tracks by them that have keys/organs.
I always had heard Yello was a sick 80s electro group and they do the Oh Yeah song that was on the Twix commercial back in the day and was part of the Feris Bueller's Day Off Soundtrack.

The record cover coincidentally is in a book I bought a while back called "This Ain't No Disco" which showcases New Wave album covers.
I was able to listen to it before I bought it (Underdog and Mike were dope like that) and didn't even have to listen to 30 seconds of the track before I knew it was a keeper.
Daily Disco epitomizes everything I want to hear in an electornic 80s dance song;
A good 4/4 house beat, kinda spooky vocals and a nice breakdown to mix into.
Yello-Daily Disco
This track is a bit more of a rockabilly/punk type uptempo track with a trippy ambient ending:
Yello-The Evening's Young
Enjoy!

Sicky Rolla ina plastic world
I was driving home from the grocery store tonight after having a nice fullsuit session in Soulag when I saw the original "Sicky Rolla" about to make a left turn on pch. I honked because I saw the car earlier today unoccuied in downtown Laguna and now directly in front of me making a left turn on my way home. The "Sicky Rolla" is intense to see live in the land of luxxury SUVs and disgustingly expensive imports. Huge ass black skim related stickers all over the place on a white 4 dr. sedan.
Rothe was sitting passenger and his chick Gina driving apparently to eat sushi in DP, so I hollered at them to cruise by my fortress for a minute.
I managed to score a copy of the new flick.
What an amazing final piece after literally having to recapture every clip from the original mini DV clip.
Homeboy did it on the same computer I'm typing on and DJ with, a 12" G4 Laptop
Some of the highlights:
-A seagull scarfing a sandy wax hunk at least the size of a racket ball.
-Jaime mutilating waves and the wavehouse strapped and unstrapped. (Jaime would say, Foo, you know I always roll strapped!)
-Paulo stepping from his skimboard to a sponge on a nice wedge sider at good speed
- Veggie Brothe consistently punishing himself to finally pull some crazy sand drops and rails at west st. when the sand cliff was super high
-Corey Ryan acting like a eeheheeeeeheeeeehing goat lamb sheep roush rousting kook to get a good laugh and even sack and tackle yours truly (DoM-P) on a measily rockies liner attempt in Santa Cruz.
Thanx a lot B Rothe.
Is that the kind of thanx you show to the guy that taught you how to skim and was giving you pointers your first day when you were at "at the beach playing in the waves with your big sister?"
Hey, its not the first time I had the jokester part in a skim vid.
